Brand history
Gustard is a premium Chinese brand from Shenzhen specialising in desktop digital-to-analogue converters, amplifiers and streamers. Founded by audio enthusiasts, it became known for discrete R-2R resistor ladders, AKM and ESS chips and its own clock generators.
The brand targets the Hi-Fi and high-end markets, combining advanced specifications with relatively accessible prices. Its products include X- and R-series desktop DACs, H-series headphone amplifiers, U-series digital-to-digital converters and network streamers. Technologies include discrete R-2R ladders, clock synthesis, substantial power supplies and XMOS USB processors.
Notable models include the discrete-resistor R26, AKM-based A26, X18 and the versatile Adualytic AH90. Earlier products such as the X11 and X12 have sometimes been discussed in connection with shared OEM platforms sold under other names, including Valab; Gustard has subsequently developed as an independent brand with its own engineering.
